As well as being an ideal course for family golf and beginners, scratch and low handicap players use the course to sharpen up their iron play and short game. If you are a beginner there is no place better to learn to play golf than in the relaxed atmosphere of  Vale do Milho Golf Club.

The final result is a delightful par 71 golf course of 5.500 metres (6.100 yards), which offers a pleasant playing experience, to players of all standards. The course is undulating but not hilly. The views of the mountains to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are stunning. The indigenous olive, cork, carob, fig and almond trees, many centuries old, feature aesthetically and in playing terms. Water hazards and sand bunkers are located to test the strategy and striking ability of the player. The Penn A4 greens and tees are simply superb.

The fairways of Bermuda Sahara and cool-season grasses, provide good lies for wood and iron shots.

The Driving Range, Putting Green and large Putting Course offer excellent practice facilities.

The Benamor golf course offers several spaces for visitors. A Club House with a reception, golf shop, bar, restaurant, caddy master and changing rooms and a driving range, two putting courses and a Bugggy bar. We also have our professional available for lessons and golf clinics throughout the year.

Each of the nine holes has four sets of tees. The white and yellow tees represent the championship and medal tees respectively for the men, and the blue and red represent the equivalent test for the ladies.

The Pines (Pinheiros) – PAR 36 – Red Course

The Pines Course (Pinheiros) is named after the abundance of pine trees which flourish the course; this nine includes four of the new holes opened in January 2007 and five of the original front nine. One thousand additional pine trees have been planted to blend the new with old.

Beautiful Signature Ninth Hole

The Pines signature hole is the ninth, a beautiful par 3 over a valley to a McKenzie green while the par 5 fourth hole is the epitome of ‘risk and reward’ golf course design.

The view of the green over the water, within reach for many golfers, is just too much of a temptation to resist and often results in a watery grave for a new Titleist golf ball!

The Corks (Sobreiros) – PAR 36 – Yellow Course

The Corks Course (Sobreiros) is the longest of the three nine holes at Pinheiros Altos and regarded the most demanding.

Spectacular Ludo Valley & Goldra Hills Views

Like the Pines Course, the Corks Course is a mixture of the original and new holes with spectacular views of the Ludo valley and the Goldra hills beyond.

Demanding 1^st Tee

The first tee shot when playing the Corks Course is one of the most demanding in the Algarve but the view is unquestionably a form of consolation.

Dangerous Eighth Hole

Many regard the eighth hole, a par 5 double dog leg of 580 yards (530m) as the most dangerous on the course and responsible for the destruction of many medal rounds.

The Olives (Oliveiras) – PAR 36 – Blue Course

The Olives Course was the original back nine and has remained unchanged since the island green eighth hole was constructed in 1995.

Pinheiros Altos Signature Hole

The eighth hole has become the signature hole of Pinheiros Altos and a must play hole when visiting the Algarve.

Gentle Rolling Landscape

Much of the bird life associated with Pinheiros Altos is visible on this nine. The gentle rolling landscape of the Olives course and the way the holes meander between lakes make for a most tranquil if demanding golfing setting.

“The land at Amendoeira is dramatic and the project has the potential to be a real talking point in the Algarve. With so many courses in the region, that’s no mean feat,” pointed out Nick Faldo, during his visit in 2007.

In a modern twist of a traditional recipe, cacti and wild herbs replace the role of Sunningdale’s heather, spartan Holm oaks and ancient olive trees take the place of a lush English woodland, and desert scrub bunkers of crushed limestone replace Berkshire’s sandy tracts in a golf course that revels in the classic principles of strategic play.

Nick said: “This was a very exciting project, which gave me a great opportunity to exploit my passion for design the same way I exploited my passion for playing. You have incredible views, beautiful undulating land and any time you have natural terrain like this, it is great fun to work with.”

“The real skill is that when you stand on the tee, the golf hole tells you what to do and if you do what it tells you there is reward but if you don’t you’re penalised. The back nine is quite hilly, which is fantastic because we’ve got some great views to complement the course.”
